The Enforcement Directorate (ED) report revealed that the money was used to incite violence. The ED report said that the Popular Front of India (PFI) was directly related to the violence. In areas where violence took place during demonstrations against CAA, there are strings attached to the hand of the PFI. The report claimed that more than Rs 120 crore was deposited in 73 bank accounts. According to the report, these funds were used for demonstration. However, the PFI has denied such reports.
Money deposited in many banks of western U.P.
According to a report by our affiliate channel Times Now, the ED investigation found that money was sent to several bank accounts of the violence-hit areas of Bijnor, Hapur, Bahraich, Shamli and Dasna in western UP after the CAA passed from Parliament in December. According to the report, around Rs 120 crore was sent to 73 bank accounts. These funds were used to fund protests.
PFI’s Kashmir unit also gets money
The report also revealed that PFI’s Kashmir unit also received Rs 1.65 crore. The ED had warned the Home Ministry about the transaction of these funds. The report comes days after PFI President Wasim Ahmed, who was arrested on charges of UP violence, got bail last week. The UP police had failed to gather strong evidence against Wasim, although he described Wasim as the mastermind of the violence.
BJP said – investigate the matter
After the disclosure of this report, BJP has said that the matter should be investigated. BJP leader and Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that if such a financial transaction has happened on a particular day, it should be investigated.

The report linking 73 bank accounts to the PFI and saying that more than Rs 120 crore was transferred in it, which was used in anti-CAA demonstrations, is incorrect.
